Luke Clemens Bartlett Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund

Founded by Luke’s family in his memory and to honor his love of sports, the fund will provide sports scholarships to Frederick County youth in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Luke Bartlett lost his life in a car accident in September 2015. He was passionate about sports, and played soccer from the time he was in kindergarten, culminating with three years of varsity soccer at Oakdale High School. He also played basketball and baseball, and participated in track and wrestling. His parents, Keith and Elizabeth Bartlett, established the fund as a way to honor Luke’s love of sports, his compassion, competitiveness, giving, spirit and zest for life.

Peter W. Beers Memorial Fund

Founded through Anna Beers’ estate to support Frederick Health Hospice.

Mrs. Beers was born in Frederick in 1918 into a deep-rooted Frederick family, and lived on Elm Street until she married Peter W. Beers in 1942. With her family, they traveled and lived extensively overseas for many years until she and her husband returned to Frederick in their retirement. As Mr. Beers wished to remain at home after a diagnosis of terminal cancer, the family sought home care through Frederick Health Hospice for which Mrs. Beers was “very thankful for their presence and ongoing support,” said their daughter, Margaret Beers Evans. Mr. Beers passed away in 1988.

Founded by the Bells to support organizations doing important HPV+ HNSCC (HPV+ Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma) cancer research. The Bells hope that by providing grant funding for this disease, they will be able to help find a cure.

Gabrielle Diana Kennedy Benton Memorial Fund

The fund is created in memory of Gabrielle by her parents, Jay and Melissa Wastler, to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that support mental health programs for children and youth with a preference for programs focusing on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or programs supporting people with disabilities with a preference for individuals with Down Syndrome.
